Oppenheimer and Barbie ignite a surge in India's multiplex industry.

In cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi, premium screens like IMAX are experiencing sold-out shows for the two Hollywood films released simultaneously in India on July 21. Ticket rates for these screenings start at Rs 700 and can go over Rs 2,000.

The simultaneous clash of two major Hollywood films, Oppenheimer and Barbie, at the box office, has become a profitable venture for multiplexes in India, with occupancy rates reaching as high as 80 percent. However, the situation is different for most Hindi films, which typically play a significant role in the Indian box office, as they have only managed to achieve 25-30 percent occupancy in multiplexes.

Oppenheimer's day-wise box office collection was as follows:

Friday: Rs 14.00 crore
Saturday: Rs 17.00 crore
Sunday: Rs 17.25 crore
Total: Rs 48.25 crore

On the other hand, the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starrer, Barbie, emerged as the second biggest crowd-puller at the Indian box office. During its opening weekend, the movie achieved the following collection:

Friday: Rs 4.50 crore
Saturday: Rs 6.50 crore
Sunday: Rs 7.25 crore
Total: Rs 18.25 crore

Barbie exhibited a positive trend throughout its opening weekend, and it has been a pleasant surprise from Hollywood in 2023. The film is expected to continue its successful run and is likely to achieve a lifetime business of around Rs 40 crore in India.

Mission Impossible 7, led by Tom Cruise, demonstrated remarkable consistency in its second weekend, with its business growing progressively. The movie collected Rs 12.25 crore during the three-day weekend, adding to its total collections of Rs 92.50 crore. MI 7 is on track to become Tom Cruise's first film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in India.

MI 7's day-wise box office collection is as follows:

Week One: Rs 80.25 crore
2nd Friday: Rs 2.50 crore
2nd Saturday: Rs 4.75 crore
2nd Sunday: Rs 5.00 crore
