Rahul Gandhi's ‘flying kiss’ row: Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal's question for Smriti Irani over Brij Bhushan
Swati Maliwal of Delhi Commission for Women, responded vehemently to the accusation made by Union minister Smriti Irani. Irani claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had blown a "flying kiss" towards the jeering members of the treasury benches as he exited the Lok Sabha following his speech during the no-confidence motion debate on Wednesday.
“A supposed flying kiss thrown in the air ignited so much fire. A man named Brij Bhushan is sitting two rows back. The one who called Olympic wrestlers into the room and put his hand on their chest, put his hand on their waist and sexually assaulted them. Why don't you get angry at what he did?” Swati Maliwal wrote on X (formally Twitter) amid a massive political row over the Congress leader's action.
In her strongly-worded tweet, Maliwal was alluding to the allegations of sexual harassment that have been raised against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is both a prominent member of the BJP and the outgoing chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). These accusations have been made by notable wrestlers, including Olympic medalists such as Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik.
Netizens are in support of Swati Maliwal questioning and are eager to hear back from Smriti Irani.
